Cleaning storage tanks

According to the assessment guideline BRL-K905, cleaning of storage tanks is crucial for both underground and above-ground tanks. This guideline applies to storage tanks for PGS Class 1 to Class 4 liquids (as defined in PGS 28 and PGS 30) and for chemicals (as defined in PGS 31). Cleaning is required during inspections, product changes, operations, or when a tank is removed.

Remediation of storage tanks

Remediation of storage tanks is covered by guidelines BRL-K904 and BRL-K902 and should be carried out by certified companies with Ministerial Recognition under the Soil Quality Decree. BRL-K904 applies to the remediation of underground and above-ground storage tanks for liquid fuels such as petrol, diesel oil, waste oil and fuel oil, as well as for chemicals such as solvents and corrosive substances. After termination of storage, remediation must take place within 2 months according to the Environmental Management Act.

Certifications

A cleaning certificate is issued after the cleaning of storage tanks. All waste materials are disposed of in accordance with legislation, including ADR, with proper documentation to make the waste flows transparent. Prior to remediation, a soil survey is carried out to check whether the soil around the plant is contaminated. If necessary, additional measures are taken in accordance with BRL SIKB 7000. After remediation, you will receive a remediation certificate.
